16 Days of Activism: Join LEWAF's Campaign Against Gender Violence

Campaigns Team6 April 2026

Every year LEWAF marks the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence with community events, social media campaigns, and policy advocacy. Here's how you can get involved.

From November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day), LEWAF joins activists, organizations, and communities worldwide for 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

This year's campaign theme focuses on the intersection of economic inequality and gender violence — recognizing that financial dependence often traps women in violent situations and that economic empowerment is a critical tool for prevention.

How to Get Involved

  • Attend our community events — LEWAF will be holding sensitization sessions in Freetown, Waterloo, Moyamba, and Mokonde during the 16 days.
  • Share our content — Follow LEWAF on Facebook and WhatsApp and share our daily posts to amplify the message.
  • Donate — A donation during the 16 Days campaign directly funds our community paralegal services and women's savings groups.
  • Volunteer — Join our team of community educators for door-to-door outreach in your area.

Violence against women is not inevitable — it is preventable. With your support, LEWAF continues to build the community awareness, legal knowledge, and economic resources that give women the power to break free from violence.
