LEWAF Programs

Gender Equity

Challenging attitudes, beliefs, and practices that perpetuate gender inequality — at home, in schools, and across communities.

Our Approach

Gender equity is not just about women — it requires engaging men, boys, community leaders, and institutions. LEWAF's Gender Equity program takes a holistic approach that addresses gender inequality at its roots, challenging the cultural norms and power dynamics that enable violence against women.

We work across multiple entry points: within families through the MenCare Program, within schools through educational initiatives, and within communities through traditional leader engagement and public sensitization.

MenCare Program

Structured sessions with men and fathers that promote positive, caring masculinity — challenging domestic violence and encouraging shared household responsibilities and respectful relationships.

School-Based Programs

Gender education programs in schools that equip young people with values of equality, consent, and mutual respect — building a new generation with different attitudes.

Women's Rights Awareness

Community sessions that help women understand their rights and build confidence to assert them in household and community spaces.

Traditional Leader Engagement

Working with chiefs, elders, and religious leaders to promote gender-equitable practices and use their authority to protect women from harmful traditions.
