Our Focus
Why these communities?
LEWAF's direct beneficiaries are women and girls in marginalized, deprived, and remote communities across Sierra Leone. Our geographic focus is not incidental — it is a strategic choice to serve those who need support most urgently. The women and girls we serve are:
- —Poor and stifled in economic poverty
- —Vulnerable to intimate partner violence (IPV)
- —Vulnerable to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV)
- —Vulnerable to unequal social norms and persistent stereotypes
- —Facing structural inequalities and biased gender roles
- —Living with unpredictable social protection
- —Unaware of their rights and civil liberties
- —Lacking confidence to participate in decision-making in their homes, communities, and country
