LEWAF programs — women empowerment

LEWAF Programs

Our Four Program Areas

Lasting change for women requires addressing multiple interlocking challenges simultaneously — economic, legal, health, and social.

01

Gender Equity

Challenging the attitudes, beliefs, and practices that perpetuate gender inequality in Sierra Leone. Through the MenCare Program, school-based initiatives, and traditional leader engagement, we work to reshape norms at every level of society.

Key Activities

  • MenCare Program for husbands/fathers
  • School-based gender education
  • Community sensitization with traditional leaders
  • Women's rights awareness campaigns
02

Women's Economic & Social Empowerment

Building financial independence for women through community savings groups, business skills training, and targeted financial support — because economic power is the foundation of safety and agency.

  • Business Development Skills Training
  • Finance Booster Scheme
  • Spouse Discussion Group Sessions
03

Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights

Empowering women and girls with knowledge about their sexual and reproductive health — through education, advocacy, and community sensitization that respects their rights and supports informed choices.

  • Reproductive health education
  • Advocacy for family health
  • Community sensitization sessions
  • Youth and adolescent programs
04

Access to Justice & Legal Empowerment

Training community paralegals, educating women on their legal rights, and building a network of community justice advocates who bring legal empowerment directly to the most remote communities.
