We are thrilled to welcome you to the official website of the Lady Ellen Women's Aid Foundation (LEWAF). Founded in 2008 in memory of Ellen Pauline Kise — a compassionate Norwegian humanitarian who witnessed firsthand the devastating conditions facing women and children in Sierra Leone — LEWAF has been at the forefront of fighting gender-based violence and empowering women across Sierra Leone.

Our work spans four critical program areas: Gender Equity, Women's Economic & Social Empowerment, Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights, and Access to Justice & Legal Empowerment. Through these programs, we have reached over 30,000 women and girls, facilitated financial access for 10,255 women, and established a network of community-based justice advocates.

Every woman deserves to live free from violence, with equal opportunities in her home and community.
